Small and Low-Cost

Lab-on-a-chip devices will reduce mass, power, waste volume, and crew time. They consume sample material and reagents in very low volumes. Sampling and analysis times are much faster than conventional laboratory analyses. The small volumes required for expensive reagents makes them more affordable, and the fabrication of chips is relatively inexpensive.
